Roles: owner, admin, member, and viewer
What each role can do, from managing the plan to viewing photos.
Updated July 9, 2026
Every person in a group has a role that sets what they can do. There are four.
Owner
The person who created the group, or who it was transferred to. The owner can do everything an admin can, and also manages the group’s plan and billing. There’s one owner per group, and the owner is the only person who can transfer the group to someone else.
Admin
Admins help run the group. They can invite and remove people, change other members’ roles, manage group settings, review takedown requests, and pin, lock, or merge collections. They can also add and organize photos like a member.
Member
Members are the heart of the group. They can view every collection, add their own photos and videos, and delete individual photos. The bigger organizing tools are handled by owners and admins: pinning, locking, and merging collections, plus deleting a whole collection (a collection’s creator can also delete it). Members can send invites only if the owner turns that on, which is off by default.
Viewer (view-only)
Viewers can see the group’s collections but can’t add or delete photos. This is useful when you want to share memories with a wider audience, extended family, alumni, a broader community, without giving everyone editing access. Viewers can still request that a photo be taken down, which an admin then reviews. See view-only members.
Who pays?
Only the owner pays, and only once per group. Everyone else, admins, members, and viewers, uses Fika for free. See who pays for Fika.
