View-only members

Share your group with a wider audience without letting everyone edit.

Updated July 9, 2026

A viewer is a member who can see the group’s collections but can’t change anything. It’s the right fit when you want to share memories broadly, with extended family, alumni, or a wider community, without handing everyone editing access.

What a viewer can do

  • See every collection and photo in the group.
  • Download photos and collections.
  • Request that a photo be taken down, which an owner or admin then reviews. See report a photo.

What a viewer can’t do

  • Add or delete photos and videos.
  • Create, rename, lock, or merge collections.
  • Invite other people.

Making someone a viewer

You choose a role when you invite someone, so pick viewer on the invite. To change an existing member, open your group’s Members tab (choose Organization in the sidebar on a computer, or Manage on your phone), open that person’s row controls, and set their role to viewer. See invite your members and manage or remove members.

If a viewer later starts contributing, just change their role to member and they can begin adding photos.
