Troubleshooting
Upload problems
Why an upload might fail or stall, and how to fix it.
Updated July 9, 2026
Most upload issues come down to a handful of causes. Here’s how to spot and fix each.
The file type or size isn’t accepted
Fika accepts common photo and video formats, with photos up to 100 MB and videos up to 5 GB. If an upload is declined for type or size, check it against supported files and sizes. Converting or trimming an oversized video usually does the trick.
The group is out of space
If your group has hit its storage limit, new uploads are paused. On a free group this happens at 10 GB. Free up space by emptying the trash, or upgrade the plan for more room. See understanding your storage.
The group is paused or mid-change
A group that’s suspended or waiting on checkout is download-only, so uploads are blocked until it’s active again. The owner can sort this out in Billing. See manage your subscription.
You don’t have permission
Viewers can’t upload, and photos can only be added to a locked collection by an owner or admin. Check your role, or ask an owner to unlock the collection.
The connection dropped
If your device goes offline mid-upload, Fika retries automatically when it can. If an upload seems stuck, check your connection and try again.
It says “processing” for a while
After a file uploads, Fika prepares the versions used for fast browsing. This is quick for photos and can take longer for large videos. If something is still processing much later, reload the page. Still stuck? Contact us.
