Set up your reference photos

Reference photos are pictures of you that Photos of Me uses to recognize you in a group’s collections. You manage them in one place, and they’re only ever used for matching you.

Where to add them

You manage reference photos in your settings, under Find me in photos:

1. Open Settings. On a computer, click the menu (the ⋯ icon) next to your name at the bottom-left of the sidebar and choose Settings; on your phone, tap More, then Settings.
2. Choose Find me in photos.
3. Choose Add photo and pick a picture of yourself.

For the best results, add 3 to 5 clear, front-facing shots in good light.

• You can have up to 10 reference photos.
• Reference photos can be JPEG, PNG, or WebP, up to 20 MB each.

What happens after you add one

Each photo is checked and prepared, so it may briefly show as processing. If a photo can’t be used, you’ll see why:

• No face detected: the photo doesn’t clearly show a face.
• Multiple faces detected: more than one person is in the shot, so Fika can’t tell which is you.
• Couldn’t process this photo: something went wrong, so try a different picture.

Just remove the flagged photo and add a clearer one.

Turning it on

Adding reference photos goes hand in hand with consent and the feature itself. If you haven’t yet, you’ll be asked to review and consent before Photos of Me starts matching. See your biometric privacy, and what Photos of Me is for the whole feature.
